My name is Lauranne Audifax, I was born in 1994, and I am a self-taught French artist based in Marseille.

Originally trained as an engineer, I spent many years pursuing stability and social mobility — a path shaped by self-censorship and inherited expectations. Although I’ve been drawing since childhood, it took me time to fully reconnect with that practice. In 2024, faced with the emotional emptiness brought on by conventional but meaningless professional success, I chose to embrace a more authentic life — one that truly resonates with who I am.

My work explores identity, memory, and resilience through figurative painting, mainly self-portraits. By confronting my own image, I seek both to reclaim it and to let it go. Painting has become, for me, a process of reappropriation and release — a way to give shape to buried stories and unspoken emotions.

My mixed heritage (malagasy & french) and personal experience fuel a sensitivity to postcolonial narratives and silenced voices. Alongside my artistic practice, I continue to deepen these reflections through personal research and introspection.

I work primarily with acrylic and oil paint, and I’m also experimenting with embroidery and textiles as metaphors for what binds us and what unravels us.

This marks the beginning of an artistic journey I envision as sincere, demanding, and lasting exploration.
